Salamander
For those of you that don’t know what a Salamander is, it is a common name for approximately 500 species of amphibians. They have slender bodies, short noses and long tails. Their moist skin usually makes them reliant on habitats in or near water, which brings be to the point I’m trying to make… I passed swimming lessons! I passed my first class that I took without mom or dad, just the teacher, its called Salamander and passing the class means I’m becoming a GREAT swimmer! I learned so much during these past two week and I’m so proud of myself for being brave enough to go with my teacher and the other kids in my class all on my own. I got really good at putting my face in the water – with my eyes open. I also learned how to do a front glide all on my own with no help! I did a black float with the teacher helping me a little. I also jumped into the water with a life jacket all on my own – check out the pictures in the gallery. My favorite part of the class was the ring toss, I got really good at picking those up by the end of my lessons. My teacher thought I did great and I got my salamander sticker:) The only thing that wasn’t so fun was that the chlorine really made my eyes burn a lot. Mom and dad found some really great drops that helped, but it wasn’t too fun for a few nights. That didn’t stop me though, I love swimming and I can’t wait for my next set of lessons!
